You can all relax now...
Most who read these missives know that I am a minimalist, and yes, somewhat of a cheepskate. I hate marketing driven gizmos that do less to improve your yakfishin experience, and more to separate you from your hard earned money. Not to mention the developing depression.
But I do make exceptions for real quality and function.
AFTCO fishing shorts and pants are the best, there's just no two ways about it. Look-at-me yakfishers buy Columbia; these guys are the Gentleman Kayakers of whom I have frequently spoken. Yakfishers in the know buy the Bass Pro house brand, which is just as good, and much less expensive. And a few of real hard core performance fishers - like me - go all the way and buy real fisher's gear. Buy a pair of AFTCO shorts and you will unlikely never buy another. They are close to indestructible. Only one problem...
They are short. Think Key West short.
I can't help it, my Dad was extremely well endowed and he passed down the goodies. Way down. As a minimalist I hate wearing underwear on the water. I don't mind getting wet, and wearing shorts alone is not only comfy, but you dry off a lot faster. And as an old marketing man I know the value of advertising.
Still, it can get to the point where hangin out with the boys can become, uh, embarassing.
So I - and dear Sue Sea - was thrilled to find that the famous AFTCO shorts now come in a long version - think Boca Grande - which are not quite down to the knees. Problem - if you consider it one - solved!
So for those of you who share my extended need for coverage, and want even more protection from sun and fish blood, you can't beat the long version of the superb AFTCO shorts. All puns intended.
And at the same price, to boot, lol...
