Coot Bay, Everglades National Park. Dawn  believe IMHO. Im seeing RED!!! Should be plenty of juvi poons, nice trouts, and snook here and there, cruising the mangroves. Would like to throw some Exude Slugs in light colors (white/chartuese tail) seem to work best and will catch anything swiming there and sometimes even flying!!!

Have never caught a red on a fly, or a snook, not even a tarpon, so would like to change that, the bay being out of the wind would make it very possible.
I think a full day of fishing is the best medicine for a long week of work... With an in-between lunch on a sandy cove. With the weather being unusually warm the fish seem to be behaving as if it were summer... So it has its ups and downs. I would be renting a yak from www.kayakfloridakeys.com so Id have to be out of the water by around 4 pm (time due is 6 pm and they are in MM 104, Key Largo)

Hope you find a fishin partner, Juan...

Quick question: Where do you guys park when putting in Coot Bay? I understand that the shortest way to Coot Bay is through Coot Bay Pond, there is a place where one could park a car right in front of the pond, by the road, but it is pretty exposed and I am not even sure if that is a legal parking area.

On the other hand, if you put in anywhere else, it is quite a paddle to get to Coot Bay.

Anyone familiar with the area?

Thanks

JB

Dr.
I fish Flamingo alot. I see cars parked at Coot bay pond all the time. I 'think it's OK to park there as long as you park where there is no grass. The Rangers really like grass, I know, they gave me a ticket for being 2" on the grass!

As for security, there shouldn't be a problem, but you never know! I drive my girl's jeep (no top) down there sometimes and haven't had a problem, yet.
