Lil windy, so SS and I decided to hang out at John Lloyd. And due to the wind I tied on a heavy metal spoon so I could get some casting distance.
Started at the north end (near the inlet) and worked south, bout 2/3 of the way to the Dania Pier. Saw some floating debris way out and decided to practice some long distance casting, reel in fast and again.
Just as the spoon came into the wash - at high speed - I saw a nice snook rush up and grab it and the fight was on. At least 15 minutes and dealing with enough floating weed to make things difficult. One super projectile jump and I knew it was a good snook.
Finally got it in - around 28 inches and in the slot. Have to guess maybe 8 lbs. But darn, for the life of me I couldn't remember if it was season, so... catch and release.
Yup - it's in season. Woops...
