Now be honest - how many of you actually went for a yakabout during this current period of high winds. Normally, we'd find something else to do, but we find it hard to pass by any weekend without yakin up.
So this weekend - with its 25 mph winds - found us in Key Largo. Of course I stop at FBO. Of course I buy a few nice used Sea Kayaker mags. And of course we try to stop by the Carribean Club to watch the sunset. Except this time we decided to try a new place...
Now you've probably passed Capt Shon's joint more than once; it's the one with a big roadside sign promoting his very own homemade Smoked Salmon Jerky (which has always intrigued me). So to escape the 30+ gusts we decided to grab a bite inside.
Yup that's Sue Sea on the left, my mistress on the right. What do I like bout this place?
First and foremost, the beer. Capt Shon (that's him) offers "131 and 6 more on the way". I even found a Blue Moon from Bavaria and it was awesome. Please also note the containers of the Capt's unique homemade salmon jerky ($2.50/slice, upper left). This is a seafood house run by the Capt and his lovely wife. Food was a bit pricey (as most is in the keys), but fair and tasty.
The ambiance is straight ahead keys, clean, fun, indoor/outdoor tables, and all that beer... we really enjoyed our stop.
ps Please note the pic of the Capts Carribean cruise ship (lower left) which he owned and ran for quite a few years.
pss This is a shameless commercial plug for a nice guy and a nice place. It's more than possible my next Blue Moon will be a freebie, lol...
