Hey Randrums, I am actually looking to do it all. Most come to the Keys and shoot right to Key West to see the sights; well, I am sure you know where I am coming from when I say, I come to the Keys to enjoy nature at it's best, and that is what I am looking for. Let me give you a little backgroud first.
I fish a Tarpon 130t, it is usually two of us sharing the yak, myself and my girlfriend. I would love to fish anything and everthing, she is a little scared of the deeper water, but I have spent months explaining the possibilities of a deeper trip and I think I have her feeling confident now. We would also like to find some nice little snorkel spots around Cudjoe.
We will be down in mid August and will be staying on an ocean lot in Venture Out (I grew up in this resort, so I am fairly familiar with the immediate area between Cudjoe and Summerland, but I have not actually been in the water there since I was a young boy.
I would love to fish for a little bit of everything, larger fish if possible. We do quite a bit of shark fishing at night from the park, where we mostly catch mid-sized Lemon sharks (Roughly 6 footers). So when we are out on the water I would like to target other species. Dolphin and Wahoo have always been a favorite of mine, but you can never go wrong with Snapper and Tarpon. I will not be bringing my fly rod this time to the Keys unfortunately, so it will be my first time Bonefishing on a Spinning Rod, so we'll have to see how that goes
Basically, I am just looking for some good direction and some good tips. I really appreciate all your help, and I look forward to hearing from ya soon!
