Hi chaps,
I thought you might like to hear about some action on the other side of the world. I am just back from a trip to Denmark to try to catch an elusive seatrout in the sea, on fly.

Peter, my host, lives on the island of Fyn (pronounced Foon), the best place in the world to go to catch a seatrout in the sea. We sat up until 2am tying flies for the following day - and one of mine worked!

I had a brilliant time, the weather was OK for the first day, then it closed in and we had 40 knot winds, snow, rain, sleet, more wind, more rain - oh and the sea was only just thawed out from the winter too - it was a nice and warm 4 degrees! Some of the fjords were still frozen over. That apparently, is the best time to go fishing for the seatrout - just outside the ice zone.

My fingers now know the meaning of torture - first paddling out against the chop getting doused in icy cold seawater, then having to handle a fly line in the wind whilst wet. They were numb in seconds but it was all worth it when I got that tug, tug, tug before the rod bent to the water! A lovely, fresh seatrout - nothing big, but enough to christen my new Loomis X-Current #8! My first danish seatrout (some people spend years trying to catch one - there is a Dane who caught his first after 5 years of trying! So I feel pretty good at getting one on my second day!)

If I knew how to put pictures up i would - but so far the system has defeated me - I'll try again later. If you want to pit your wits against a fickle fish, the seatrout in the sea has got to be one of the trickiest. It is also fishing to test the mettle of anyone - fishing in those conditions needs dedication! (Or is it certification?)
