Put in at Coot bay pond yesterday at first light.Fished there for about twenty minutes and got zippo.Worked our way thru the tunnel(which is open by the way)out to Coot bay itself. We fished the entrance way there for a few minutes and got nada.At this point I started to notice the NW breeze starting to build but.............Finally decided to look for juvi Tarpon up in the No. end of the bay and started to paddle into that #### NW breeze.Anyway after paddling and searching and casting and 982 corrective strokes on my part later we finally located the aforementioned Tarpon and even managed to catch a few before they wised up.After the bite stopped I got the brilliant idea to try Mud bay, it's only right across the bay, and the breeze isn't that bad ,and it's only 1.87 miles according to my friends GPS and 1,782 corrective strokes according to my lousy paddling technique til we arrive to the entrance of Mud bay. After I got done stuffing my lungs back down my throat we fished the entranceway to the bay,and got nothing. We worked our way thru the tunnel leading into the bay(by the way it is open)and fished the other end to no avail, tho we did spook a few Reds sitting down in the mud.
After all this excitement we decided to head back to the put in.When we emerged back out into Coot bay I made a remark something to the effect how refreshing the #### NW steady 15 knot wind...er..breeze was and that we only had to paddle across the bay,and the breeze isn't that bad and it's only 1.87 miles according to my friends GPS, and only 1,782 corrective strokes according to my lousy paddling technique back to the other side.
To make a long story short we finally arrived back at the put in where I promptly stuffed my lungs back down throat and made a remark something to effect of how much FUN I was
having.
I gotta tell you, that was a lot of hard work for a few small Tarpon and me thinks it's time to get serious about paddling technique.
