This is a section of video from my second run near Fort Jefferson. It was getting late in the afternoon and I got to thinking ... wouldn't it be cool to get as close as I could to Loggerhead Key and film the sunset. Brilliant!

Well I did just that. After I rounded the corner of the old Coaling Dock and paddled out a bit over the reef the wind started to kick up a tad. I had my nose pointed at Loggerhead and the sun was going down. Ok so far ... this is easy. Then something bumped the yak. I don't know if I hit an old lump of Civil War bricks or Neptune was poking me with his trident but I looked down and saw a very large large shadow go by me.

I would have soiled my Calvins right there but I didn't bring enough spares with me on this camping trip so I clenched up and hi tailed it out of there.

You can see the  Loggerhead light, Long Key, Bush Key, Fort Jefferson Light and the only other craft besides the ferry and Ranger boat I saw for my entire stay on Garden Key.This was a sailboat that pulled in and anchored late in the afternoon but the occupants never came ashore.

Two things about this vid. One ...Crank up the volume .. good tune. Two ... keep watching after the music stops and see Fishhead give the secret yakkers hand signal to Krash in acknowledgement of his wish to see a Mojo beach.

Here's some more pix from the trip.

Upon my arrival at the Mothership, the Captain and crew immediately recognized that they were dealing with no ordinary kayak fisherman. I believe I acually saw a tear come to the eye of one of the Mates when he got his first glimpse of the Emotion Mojo Angler Version 1. They took great care loading her (seriously) and stowed this magnificent craft in a place of honor for all to see. They asked if they could run up some special ceremonial string of flags for the departure but I had already caused enough excitement and feared attracting the local media. Of course, they were devastated when I asked them to leave the harbor without  fanfare. It's not easy being me.

krash .. the fishing is described in the original post ... in Lemme Hook you up  ... I'm trying to keep everyone happy with Pix in the Pix place and Fish in the Fish place.

I'm thinking the Galapagos is next ... or Patagonia ... you interested? I think going round the Horn in a Mojo may be the only thing left after this ..lol

Here's another vid .... the drugs just started to kick in.

All in all, the stay on Garden Key was a marvelous time. As usual on one of my sojourns the local inhabitants, in this case Staff volunteers and Park Rangers, did ask for autographs and the odd navigational or survival skill lesson. It is sort of my "Prime Directive" to interfere as little as possible with indigenous peoples and cultures but these folk were such a nice lot (seriously) that I found myself in easy conversation with them on a number of occasions. The looks on their faces were priceless when I distributed the bundle of gifts consisting of small mirrors, beads and assorted hand tools that I routinely carry in case there is a need for diplomacy.

I did indeed make quite an impression on them for as I was departing and boarding the Mother ship their leader told me that if I ever returned to their island he would arrange special lodging for me inside Fort Jefferson. The rest of the group howled with approval and pointed at the ancient citadel then continued doing what I call the "Happy Prospector Dance" on the dock until I and the ferry faded from view over the horizon. It’s not easy being me.
