Like an old man trying to return soup at a Deli.

Hey, I finally caught some more fish ... Westlake this morning. The tide was right and the guy at the bait store gave me shrimps.

I caught a nice size Jack and six  ... I think you call 'em Croakers? ... can you eat those? They looked like I should eat em but they made these godawful noises when I got them up to the yak. To be honest, they frightened me. I'm no Marine Bioligist.

I didn't get any Snook but they were there ... taunting me, looking down their noses at me like a Frenchman at an American tourist.

I also ran into another yakfisher, Glenn? I think ...I'm terrible with names .... a newb .. nice guy in a Pelican. We chatted for a while then both skeedaddled around noon when the thunder started.

Probably gonna go tomorrow too. If any of you guys are around keep your distance ... you'll just get depressed watching me.

All in all, a good day fibishing.

Never get out of the boat.

fishhead,
My guess is thems were grunts, snappa family.. if they were croakers that right there is snook candy.

You can eat anything if ya cook it long enough.

no they weren't grunts .. I don't know much but I know a grunt when I see one ... I tried surfcasting for a while. They were more "redfish" looking than snapper looking .... maybe 18 inches long .... more of a croak sound than the grunt noise.

What do you mean by Snook candy? ... the snoox like to eat them?

Never get out of the boat.

Bring that yak to S. Biscayne Bay tomorrow... meeting at Convoy Point gates at 6:45AM.

Paddle Fish half day... lots of cudas to catch and maybe even a snook, bone, permit, tarpon, black-tip....

hey krash ... thanx for the invite ... I really would have loved to go ... I'm not fishing at all today ... apparently I've been neglecting numerous other aspects of my life and have been told so in no uncertain terms.

It would be really cool to hook up with some of you old pros and try a new spot. BNP looks like a good place for me. My paddling skills aren't ready for the deep but I might be able to keep up with you guys in the mangroves .... so keep me in mind.

Back to the fish .... what were those noisy critters I caught? They weren't grunts .. at least not the ones I'm familiar with.

Never get out of the boat.

Croakers look just like a Red, ábut without the spot. They are as good or better than Reds to eat. I hear there have been alot caught in the surf in the last week or two.
