Is Port Everglades an important cruise center?  Is the Pope Catholic?  Three of Florida's ports, Miami, Port Canaveral, and Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale) represent 44 percent of the world cruise market.  And they spew an incredible amount of smoke!

Have you ever been at John Lloyd Park around 5 pm?  Then you know - you can smell em leavin.  And just how much smoke doe a cruise ship emit?  Plenty. One ship emits the equivalent of 350,000 cars.  Worse yet, the fuel used is a high sulfer, low quality diesel "bunker fuel".  How high?

Try 2000 times that in truck fuel!  Good grief!

There are correlations being discovered between cruise ship activity and significantly increased deaths from fine particulate matter near the ports. Those inlet-side high rises don't seem so attractive anymore.  And maybe living on Fisher Island has its downside, lol.

Toke up friends, while our "regulators" study the matter...

Tight lines,
