Well boys and girls the Y/T are back in the ICW. Caught me a mess today. Anywhere from 12 to 18 in. and good little fighters too!!
Small Mepps Gold Spoon was the ticket.
I sure pissed off a bunch of people on shore. I paddle into view where I know there is an ambush structure on the bottom of a falling tide. Throw out the spoon...BAM!! Pulled it in and Juvie Yellow Tail...yeah Baby!! And so It went for almost half an hour till the bite was off. The shore guys kept trying to throw out to where I was which if they had was kinda dangerous for me..oh well what else is new??!!
The garlic and Olive Oil are heating as we speak and a plate of sauteed whole Y/T and a cold one are in my immediate future.

Roger
This time of year they come in to the ICW and I find them from Dumbfoundling to past Haulover. They are very tide sensitive and I have luck on the ebb, but when it goes slack pack up they get lockjaw.

They are probably all up and down the ICW this time of year, but I tend to fish that area alot for I believe if you know an area very well the fish will come to you. If you live near the ICW as I do then fish it no matter what part it is and learn it well, learn the tides, the bottom, the currents. You don't need to drive an hour or two in order to catch great fish.

Oh by the way those Y/T's were so good!! Nothin better than from hook to table.

Thanks for the update. I like paddling around that area anyway, so fish are a plus. Now if I can just get that GPS device under the tree to mark all the good spots

Just hang that chum bag off a med/heavy rod with 20# or 30# test and make believe you're fishing for one of those free rides. You'll probably catch a lot of snappers & go nowhere. (unless you're close to haulover!!) They've been catching 1-5# mangroves I've been told, under S. side of Hollywood bridge on ICW using dead pilchards, live would have to be better...............Jerry
