I'm sure all of us fantasize bout latching onto a sail in the briny deep.  Guys like Kayak Willie and a few of the California guys, like Dennis did/do this regularly.  And in the last issue of Fla. Sportsman there was a pic of guy near Lake Worth with quite a healthy specimen draped over his...

Scupper Pro.   It was the boat that did it!

Seriously the sails are getting close.  Kayak Willie follows the migration very closely every year and told me the recent cold fronts are driving them ever closer.  "Not long now", he said.

Until now some sails are in, but small and sparse.  That will change soon.  At that time it will be more than possible to hook up with sails, kings and even the occasional wahoo.

More to follow, but we're looking at just a couple weeks.

Capn Jimbo, when you are ready to try and need someone to go with you can send me a Email. I fish of Palm Beach and the sails can be found right off the beach. I like to fish on the weekdays but I do go out on the weekends. My kayak is a Heritage Expenition sit on top sea kayak that is set up for offshore fishing. Its length is 17'4" with a width of 26" and is a lot of fun to paddle offshore.  See you soon, Smartcastpete.

Pete look forward to it.  David in Miami and Alan here in Ft. L. are also into the notion.   As are Lewis and Traderbob.  BTW...here's the pic of the sail and, uh, the Scupper Pro....

Just how many sails get caught each season over there off Miami or wherever?

I would love to fly over and have a go one year if anyone was willing to lend me a kayak.

I am happy to reciprocate over here - I can lend you a Scupper Pro or a Prowler 13 (I would take the Scupper!) but the Dorado is mine, all mine! I might let you have a paddle though!

:D Ya, this weekend you might be able to stand on the beach and catch one as it goes by on a wave.

I've been on the Lake Worth pier and they say certain days of the year you can just about cast to the gulfstream with a 4 oz sinker........seen dolphin & sails caught there off the pier!!! ...doesn't sound like a long paddle......Jerry
