Hi all,
Looking for new and interesting places to drop the yak in off us41 between say 40 mile bend and Marco.

Any suggestions, need safe to park the car and leave it for a few hours, easy access to the water, and productive fishing areas.

Well, you've got Collier-Seminole State Park, just east of the SR92 turnoff to Goodland.  Then there is Port of the Islands, a little further east, but I don't know if you can launch there without staying there.  Might want to check with Shemanogirl or drugz_r_bad_mmkay as they fish down that way a lot.

You can launch at Port of the Islands.  I think there's a launch fee of five bucks.

That launch is into the Faka-Union Canal and will take you all of the way to the Gulf if you care to go that far.  There a a few small feeder creeks that pour into the canal and the banks are natural mangrove--not seawall.  It is very fishable and interesting.  I made the run about a year ago.

Collier-Seminole will put you on the Blackwater River and also take you to the Gulf.  I did the loop out to the Gulf and back through Palm Bay, Mud Bay and reconnected again with the Balckwater River to return.  Saw quite a few tarpon and had a couple hook ups but didn't keep them on long.

You can also put in at Goodland at the Calusa Island Marina--also a fee but you are safe there--and fish the passes just above Caxambas Pass or even book down to Cape Romano.  This is a great place to fish.

On the southern tip of Marco Island there is a public marina right across the Caxambas Pass from Kice Island and Helen Key that take you to some nice fishing.  Take Snook Hole Pass down to Cape Romano if you wish.  Camp Big Morgan Island if you want and catch snook and grouper in the creek in front of your tent or fish the sugar sand beaches for a variety of different fish.  Also, great shelling on these beaches.

These are all wonderful places to kayak and fish.  I can't wait to do Cape Romano again.

I wouldn't be much help Ralph L, however if you can see an aerial there are 4 small lakes interconnected off the trail, and i hear they are full of fish. When I talked to you before Krash it seemed like there would be more than a few people, and I didn't think that this would be ideal as I doubt it has alot of space for parking, and I doubt its safe. It's between Choko and Goodland, it's hard to see as the turnoff is truely a hole in the wall.
