Decide to head to Flamingo late Friday. Actually got some one else to show up. Thanks Fishon!
He arrived at around 5:30 Saturday am and decided to launch with out me. I got there around 7:30 to an almost dead low tide. With a two hour head start I didn't catch him till near Christian Point. Yea, I paddled my Hobie and, against the wind.
Reported winds were greatly underated. I'm guessing it blew 20+ steady. The water near the 'groves and in the nearshore cuts was milky. Fishon caught a slot snook and a few other fish, I didn't catch a thing most of the morning. Hooked a few jacks around Joe Kemps shoreline cuts.
It was time to look for cleaner water. With the wind seeming to turn toward the NW I decide to head towards Murry Key. Plenty of clean water and lots of bait in the water. Only thing I could hook were stinky 'cudas. Thought of livelining one but didn't bring the Surflon.
With the wind at my back and on a straight line course for the launch, I had a late lunch and a Black Dog Pale Ale while making just over 5mph.
Met up with a friend, caught a few fish, saw a school of tailing reds, drank a few fine beers, some imported, paddled/pedalled a little over 10 miles, drifted a few more, home for dinner even though it wasn't fresh fish
Couldn't ask for a better day
(Capn's Note: Fuzz, thanks for a great report. An interesting day, aren't they all...)
