I am going to camp in east Cape Sable in a couple of weeks, going to paddle there from Flamingo marina.

Any hints regarding fishing in the area at this time of the year? How is surf fishing in East Cape Sable?

I heard that between Bradley Key and the Flamingo campground fishing can be nice, anyone with experience in the area?

Thanks in advance

Hey Dr.
A couple of my friends went to East Cape a few weeks ago. launched from Flamingo. The nosee'em were terrible, they said. The fishing was fantastic, though.

After hearing them talk, you might want to time your departure and return with the tides, especially your return.

Prevailing winds will get you there no matter the tide but, the return, usually against the wind will be helped by the tides.

Sunday Jan. 14, the wind was howling out of the east and the water was cloudy. Suprisingly, there wasn't much floating weed. Early, around 4am, my new found friend almost had a Flamingo slam fishing the marina area. By 8am the wind started to pick up and by 10 it was 20+

Feb. 8-11 there will be a group from other forums camping at Flamingo and I think Capt. Wright will have a group some where around West Cape Sable.

Come on down then, I'm sure there will be fishing, lies told and brews consumed :D

All my hobbies can or have hurt me!
