Fish? I see you missed the symbolism. Well, this is what I get for trying to light a candle of culture.

That place looks fishy, are you sure there is no fish there ?

I'm off today and tomorrow, if I don't hit B-Bay maybe I'll try paddling and casting there for a couple hours. Unless I take the car into the shop to get the AC fixed...

I don't know if there are any fish there ,But something took  off with a half mullet twice.1 on one  end of the lake and 1 on the other end.  Both were screemers . I had them hooked for a short time and they pulled hard,if they were Jacks they had to be huge. My excuse is the hook was too small for the mullet, and I'm sticking to it. I useally use alot bigger circle hook , but came unprepared.

After much thought ,I think they were Puffers with really big b-lls

A big fish can fit a small hook in its mouth...but a small fish cant fit a big hook in its mouth....medium size circle hook...hook it just thru the skin..shallow like.

Put it this way , I match the hook I use to the bait. If you use a big bait you have to use a large hook. With circle hooks , they may be big but the gap is not. Useally the fish is going away from you and the bait slides from the gills thru the mouth and then back around the jaw,if the jaw is thick you will only get skin if you lucky. I want jaw bone. Sharpen your hook, Even if you hook up ,  you have to dig the hook into the jaw.

You do not set the hook with a circle ,you have to let it get tight and then yank on it a few times to make sure you penetrate thru the bone. Hopefully my wife doesn't read this because she might not think I' m fishing. LOL
