Well, I just had a pretty good day so thought I'd post it up on here. In the midst of all my goings-on (finishing a masters up and studying to be a mortgage broker on the side) I found a day to have a little fun
I have a friend at work that's being recalled to Navy Reserves and wanted to yak before leaving and another friend from work wanted to try yak'n as well, so we made a day of it. I put in where I live and paddled over to Geiger Key Marina to have lunch with them, then they rented a couple OK Capers from the marina and off we went. I had my snorkel gear w/ speargun and fish'n gear w/ one rod "just incase", lol. They wanted to explore and it was flats when we weren't in little creeks, so I drug a 3" grub behind the yak when I could. I caught 23" and ??" cudas. Toward the end of the paddle something broke my 30# leader, but I was about done anyway as I was almost home and they were turning the yaks in while I paddled back. Then I cleaned up the gear, cleaned the fish, and we fried them up and had 'em with pina coladas. Was a pretty good day but I'm beat! Well, it's off to shower, but just wanted to share on the forum. What a beautiful day in the keys, water doesn't get any flatter than this! Had a friend that went flats fishing on a boat today up in Big Pine and said it was nice out there as well. He and I are going out tomorrow on a dive boat with the instructor that taught us, just to bring us up to speed for the season of diving that lies ahead. That will be great as well, I'm sure.
Take care and tight lines everyone!
