Hey there to all from maryland-its raining like crazy up here today so no fishing. i am new to the board and wanted to get some basics if possible. wifey's fam is in deerfield near pioneer park.  i want to bring down our yaks to paddle and fish. up here where i live its mostly pickeral, perch and striped bass...i know you have more species to target.  Iwas thinking of bring down a selection of kastmasters, jigs 1/4-1oz, rattle traps 1/2-3/4oz, a couple of crystal mins yozuris and a couple of topwater chuggers-i'll be pitching pwrpro 15-20 on 6ftmhrods with small diawas/shimano reels....for the really uninformed, is it ok to fish the cannels in that area with the rigs i have? what about the icw? i see that the canals lead into the icw and was wondering if tide changes could be fished in those interesections?  any help is appreciated, btw my yak is a t160 cause im kind of a biggin, i get around on it ok but i am no expert and would not want to venture into the ocean without knowing what i was doing.  Again any help is appreciated

Raining like #### here too....sounds like a solid array of lures for most any salt / Bracking combination.  Hardware may be a bitlite for any true ocean fishing.....Also, about 20 miles west of Pioneer Park, it is possiblew to put in at  Loxahatchee and fish a fantastic and unique ecosystem or some nice Largemouths....Stick with plastics here.....Zoom twichbaits are superb in AR Shiner and Gold Pepper color.  Also the proverbial Rubber worm with Bullet weight teaxas rigged is king out there as well as any weedless topwater plastic frog for jumping the pads...

I put in at the South Site ( Which for you will be closer to the famdamily in Deerfield....) Park opens at 6:30 Closes at 8:30

Bring Bug Spray!

Also - Look at this link to another Forum where the same question was asked.....Most of these guys are FL West coasters, but some good brackish / salt info here too.

Flanman, when will you be in the area? I've fished the canals around Deerfield some. I like floating hardbaits. It's reel fun to watch jacks and 'cudas bust topwater lures. I've also fish the Lox area as Cookinman said. Check out the Florida section of the KFS forum. There's a group of fishing derelicts that are always willing to try to convert northern folks to southern style fishing.
