Surfski: 150.34 miles - 24 hour flat water paddling record on Huki S1-X

How bout dat!  Exactly 150.34 miles in a stock Huki S1-X surfski on Lake Merced in San Francisco, April 29-30, 2006 by Carter Johnson - confirmed by Guiness World Records.

Some more details, pictures and his log book:

Got my attention.  Furtherest I've ever gone I'd estimate in the mid 20's, how bout you?

27 miles in a Current Designs Sirocco (SIK), with plenty of 5 minute rest stops.

About 8 miles, but I haven't even tried to push the envelope. That's about 1.3 hours of paddling for that surfski.

The wife (Shari) and I paddled 68 miles in our Bayrunner fiberglass tandem sot, at this year’s Watertribe Ultra marathon. Took us 14 hours.

I have done the 50-mile Suwannee river race last year, and this year’s 44-mile Suwannee river challenge (water was low and they had to change the route) in my Skua. Both races took me just under 9 hours. The wife also did this years Suwannee river challenge in 9:02 she was the only women this year and got 15th out of 21 paddlers. Was a great time but I now need to read your links to gelcoat repair, there were quite a few rocks on the Suwannee this year.

Carter and his wife won the 300 mile WT Everglades Challenge last year in a double surfski, took them 3+ days, that is a long time to spend in a surfski! The wife and I are going to run the Everglades Challenge next March.

Captain you still paddling your ski? You have not mentioned it lately. We got a couple and have been learning how not to fall out of them.

Yes I still paddle the Mako XT, it's still the easiest one to load and transport (at 37 lb), so it's the one that ends up wet.  Lately I was blessed to have Paladin give me a 3/4 finished Greenland paddle and it is quite a sight to see the super high tech XT paired with a traditional eskimo paddle.

Still, my shoulder is not yet recovered completely from my overuse of earlier this year...
