Chef will recall that Joe, Sue Sea and I did Rookery last year about this time and it was one of those truly memorable days.
Anyway after you leave the little lagoon which is home to the launch you will come upon the end of the river which runs east/west with a marked channel down the center.
That day we were facing 20 knot east winds, so we'd struggle east a couple hundred yards, then get blown right back and drift west down the channel, have time for maybe 15 casts., then do it again.
Each time we'd get 3 to 5 hookups and I swear I had a record breaker (don't recall but the ladyfish record is under 10 lbs). I brought a contender to yakside then lost him.
We finally gave up simply because our arms got tired from catchin and paddlin. All in all an awesome day. If you get a chance don't miss out on Rookery. A beautiful rustic launch down a long dirt road, no marina, no bull. Just back to nature in an amazing setting.
