After a year of kayak fishing for bull reds in Texas, I've had enough interest that I was able to successfully organize and pull off an event I titled "Beyond the Breakers"  It was a seminar for kayak and beach anglers who want to learn how to catch giant redfish from the yak and surf.

We had numerous sponsors including Cobra Kayaks, Malibu Kayaks, American Rodsmiths and many more.

30 kayakers registered for the event. 24 showed up after bad weather forced a re-schedule for a week later.  With myself and good fishing friend TJ Pilgrim we took to the High Island surf with 24 kayakers - some of them whom had never been in the surf ever.

Flat calm conditions prevailed and the big reds were chewin! We caught over 30 redfish and 3 big black drum. 9 people caught their first and/or biggest redfish ever from the kayak, including an 11-yr old kid!

Here's the link. Enjoy the pics!
