At long last.

I'm very, very proud to announce the Kayakfishing Hall of Fame.  Over the past months I've been taking the time to find and interview some yakfishers that I consider the real pioneers of our sport.

I'm honored to call three of them friends, and one a very close friend, Kayak Willie.

Bill was and is a true pioneer, a real Florida character, a man of great ingenuity and courage.  He drove what may have been one of the very first SOT's, actually a Superyak.  Designed his own paddle, made his own rods and holders, developed his own techniques.  Caught sails, wahoo and marlin.  Even fought off sharks.

He was the first kayaker to enter and place in the prestigious (and expensive) Pompano Rodeo Offshore Sailfish Tournament, and place!

Bill is a good man, and really knows his stuff.  If it has to do with saltwater fishing in S. Florida, he's been there, done that.  Our very own Kayak Willie is the first member of the Hall of Fame.  The second member will be announced soon...

Congratulations Bill Tytler, Kayak Willie, my good friend!

What a great chat that was. Designs have changed, tackle has improved....but one thing hasn't...the type of person who is attacted to yak fishing. I think Kayak Willie said it all.
Long live the dark side!!!

Absolutely fascinating. I really learned some stuff from this article. Like watch out for cudas even AFTER you have the fish or bait out of the water. I thought I had done some cool stuff fishing from my yak, but I'm humbled. Thanks for the article Jimbo.
