Here's another config for the Trident rod holders. In this version, which can be transformed back to the original because the added pieces aren't glued, I've added some height and a logistics bar. I simply flipped the original over and added the new pvc.
The origianl rocket launchers now dip into the scuppers for the locking mechanism. After testing I found no need for the rotating action and like the continuos lock. You can use the cross bar for a leaning post for poles or a mount for whatever you like. It's suprisingly sturdy as you can actually lift the the boat from the crossbar.
This config is also going to be my base for the DIY sail. I'm thinking two lengths of 3/4 inch pvc . 3/4 inch drops right into the 1 inch easily yet snugly. Then just figure out the angle for the dual mast and get some cloth. Those pieces should just roll up and drop right in the rod pod. Easy up, Easy down.
As a bonus you can see my new and improved flat stake. I got the idea from capn' Jimbos doodlesnarkin extendo pole and Hobie. This is made from an 12 year old electric pruning saw. Wilma renedered this saw useless to me so I found another use for it.
I added a wooden stake at the end with two well nuts. Then used an old stainless O ring for the life line. It's all fiberglass and extends to 12 feet. It's a killer ... literally.
Kids .. don't try this at home or on a Disco.
Never get out of the boat.
