I just got back from 4 days at the Naples Grand Beach Resort also known as the Registry. The resort is adjacent to Clam Pass Park where I launced my Prowler on large mangrove lined lagoon. A tram ferryies people from the parking lot to a semi private beach where the resort rents kyacks and has a small cafe. I fished mostly inside on the flats during the morning incoming tide. The snook were very active along the shoreline and were hitting on topwaters. I have a shrimp looking popper that caught a few snook every day. I caught Redfish on the mudflats where you could often see them tailing but they were very skittish. A hookup jighead with a gulp smelt had the best luck. I also hit the pass where I saw a beach fierman catch a 30 or so lb snook. All I  were smaller snook. There were numerous baitfish in the surf and I saw snook feeding on them but I could not get a hookup.

If anyone is looking for a place to take the wife for a nice resort vacation I recommend this resort. Good kyack fishing is just a few steps away and she can enjoy the pool bars and beach of the resort. Beware of the low clearance in the parking garage my kyack rubbed once on a low hanging pipe. I brought a cable lock and left the Yak chained to a rack near the luanch or chained to the boardwalk at the beach.

How did you get your kayak to the beach? As I recall it was a long walk across the boardwalk. Is there a launch into the lagoon near the hotel?

There is a Collier County park right next to the resort which launches into outer clam bay. The ramp is actually the beginninig of a marked canoe trail which heads north west father than I followed it. Clam pass is less than a mile paddle from the launch sight. The pass itself experiences high currents but once you get where the bays widen the current drops off. You can also wade a good portion of the bay unless the tide is extremely high. The resorts beach is about 300 yards south east of the pass. Pelican Bay resort has a beach on the opposite side of the pass.

The Park is an honor system pay to park. You have to have six dollars for a taken which you use to get a ticket. The six dollars must be inthe form of a five and a one. If you have a resident beach pass there is no charge. I only paid on the first day I was in the resort and after that I cable locked my Prowler either to the boardwalk at the beach or the canoe rack at the park. If I wanted to wake my wife up the first morning I could have had her drop me and the yak off and avoided the parking fee.

If your not staying at the resort you could still use the park to launch but it would be hard to avoid the parking fee. Also I did not see any trailer parking. BTW you six dollar fee also entitles you to the unlimited use of the beach shutlle wich runs from about 0800 till sunset. The shuttle is great if you want to leave the Yak on the beach, take a mid day brake and return in the evening. Also in 4 days at the resort I was never asked once to show my room key or establish my identity as a guest. Of course this would only be significant if you decided to sneak into the pool for a quick dip.
