Thought it might be interesting to find out how many fly rods we carry with us when we're on our kayaks. Personally, I've only been carrying one and I just change flies/tippets as necessary. My last trip to Rattlesnake with Chef Mike got me thinking though. There were shots at cuda but also possible shots at bones. Totally different rigs  but one rod and no way of knowing what's coming up. So I've been seriously thinking about more. Now I might actually have to install rod holders... So what about everybody else?

Ken, I just got a new Sit Inside and Im having a hard time figuring out how im going to bring one spinning rod!
Depending on the ride you have, two rods would be a good idea. On the Prowler I have scotty holders and work quite well.

I usually just take my 8 wt, w/a baitfush pattern. I'm not gonna spook bones, permit, or reds w/my fly rod. I have alot more confidence w/my spinner.

I still haven't gotten around to installing rod holders. I tether my rods to the eyelets. I keep one in my lap. Usually I just take my 8/9 wt. This past weekend I tried the spinner and the flyrod. Without decent rodholders it was kind of a pain. At this point I'm more comfortable/confident with my flyrod. I think I'm more accurate with it.

I did catch some snaper with my spinning rod though. It was on a jib I painted & tied so I thought that was pretty cool.

Dang poll won't let me vote, but for me it's one flyrod.  I haven't really worked this out yet.  Have my usual two rocket launcher cooler behind me that holds my spinners, one with topwater, one with jig.

Been slipping the flyrod under a bungee just ahead of my feet.  But a mount between my legs might be nice...

:capn:

ps.  know what you mean bout the bones.  I keep a topwater on for cudas, then a flats jig for the bones.  And/or a bone fly on the flyrod, otherwise it's a clouser.

Yup! :D

Hey, I'm not picky, at least it's not just me talking to myself. Shhh... don't tell them you do that! Quiet! I told you to leave me alone! Don't tell me what to do... Oh great, everybody's looking! Oh, great, now they'll know we're having a fight. Quiet!

Ummm...move along, nothing to see here
