I love most anything that floats and you can fish from.
I think Canoes are very "pure" if for no other reason because of their history.
I like 'em and want to learn more about 'em.

As far as I know, Lewis and Clark did not set out on their trip with OK Scupper Pro's. They did OK though.

Dear Mssrs. Lewis & Clark:
Just wanted to see if anyone was alive out there!
You know, though, I've been browsing and saw where there are a couple of times where paddling distances are an issue. Couldn't a canoe with a motor tow some kayaks/kayakers?  I just have one burning question: Would they be classified as sot's or sik's?

Fishhunter;I dont know about towing Yaks but they would make pretty good cargo carriers on extended camping trips.
They're also great for stalking fish when two people are fishing, one fishes the other propels the craft. They do have limitations as well as advantages. As long as human power is used I see them as pretty PURE.

Just my .02 cents Dave

That's one of the great things about canoes.
They could be used as a SOT or a SIK if you want.

We're getting off topic here.

The original suggestion was to add a Canoe section.
I think it would be a good addition to the forum and a good idea.
Blindhog was good enough to agree to moderate  the section.

If it would help to bring people to the FLYC and have a good time, why would we not want to support that?

So be it.

It pleases the Godfisher that Mr. Blindhog has agreed to moderate, and this thread is now closed. The venerable canoe is an ancient and respectable native craft.  One of the great designers and theorists in yak design, John Winter, is just as well known for his work with canoes.

A canoe section will appear as if by magic.

T'anks to all...
